The Month of Sacred Heart
Dear Parishioners, I came across an essay on Bishop Baron’s Word on Fire by Kody Cooper. This article, included in this week’s bulletin and linked after this letter, talks about “Pride Month” from a Catholic Perspective. For Catholics, June is not “Pride Month,” but the month of Sacred Heart. We celebrate the love of God manifested in the Sacred Heart. June has two rival visions of love, each with it’s own sexual ethic and account of the virtues: Pride, which contends “love is love,” and Humility, which proclaims “God is love.” Please take a look at this essay; I found it very good in understanding and contrasting the present sexual ethic with the traditional Catholic view of sexuality rooted in God’s plan for love and sexuality.
Seminarian Formation Appeal
This week the diocese is having the Seminarian Formation Appeal. Priests are necessary to the future of our diocese and Church. This upcoming year we are blessed to have 10 seminarians studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Spokane. Educating and training seminarians can cost up to $50,000 annually. Please be generous.
Welcome New Parish Staff
I am happy to announce that Mary Schneiter, who is presently on the Finance Council, has agreed to be our new Finance Council Chair. We welcome her to this position. We also welcome Jackie Fuller as our new bookkeeper. Jackie is a parishioner of Holy Ghost and comes with vast experience working in organizations where she has done bookkeeping as well as other administrative tasks. Both of these new positions start July 1.
