All Hallowed’s Day: Yes, I know, it’s the old name for All Saints day. When we are reminded, we are not alone. God watches over us as do our brothers and sisters the saints. We also remember the souls of the faithful departed in purgatory who are making amends for things. We are called to pray for them and offer sacrifices for them. Halloween’s original purpose was for the kids and all people to offer prayers for the faithful departed. It used to be that the kids from the poorer sections of town would visit the richer areas and pray for their departed loved ones in exchange for a soul cake. All of you have had one. Only you know it as a doughnut! –Fr. Mike
