As we continue to hear stories of abuse and corruption within the Church, Bishop Daly has designated Saturday, September 29
th as a day of prayer and fasting throughout eastern Washington. September 29
th is the Feast of the Archangels. Tradition holds up the Archangel Michael in particular as someone whom we should invoke to help us in our fight against evil. Bishop Daly writes, “I believe that the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report and the removal of Archbishop McCarrick from ministry as well as other accounts of corruption in our Church reveal a diabolical aspect to the present crisis. In the Gospel of Saint Mark, Jesus said that some demonic forces can only be driven out through prayer and fasting. I therefore encourage all of you to join me in prayer and fasting on September 29
th for our Church. May these spiritual works serve as a solid foundation for ongoing renewal.”
