Dear Parishioners,
We had a wonderful pilgrimage last Sunday to Spokane to a be a part of Expo ’23 and the Eucharistic Revival. Twenty-one people participated in the day long event taking a charter bus to downtown Spokane.
We ate our lunch on the bus and prayed a rosary as we went to the Cathedral just in time to be a part of the mile-long Eucharistic Procession to Riverfront Park. The main event happened at the Podium is the new event center right next to
the Park, with a crowd of nearly 3,000 people. Our Lord in the Eucharist was the main event with Mary Healy, who is an accomplished scripture scholar and speaker, delivering a fine and inspiring talk on the Eucharist. During a period of Eucharist Adoration, the Bishop gave some inspiring remarks on the Eucharist with some very beautiful music. Afterwards food was provided for everyone outside. There was a fine Mexican meal in which we sat out on a lawn while enjoying Mariachi music and Mexican dancing. We came home watching a beautiful sunset out the bus window.
This Sunday after the 10 am mass at St. Mary’s we will be placing our Lord in the new Adoration Chapel that has been prepared for him. There he will await visitors to come and spend time with him. There he wants to fill those who come to him with his love and alleviate their burdens. The plan is to get as many people as possible to commit to one hour a week to spend with the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration. If you would like to participate in Eucharistic Adoration please contact Kellie in the office.
I would like to thank again Tom Cools who has built the beautiful altar and tabernacle to house Our Lord and Susan Griffith who has made the beautiful altar cloth and reupholstered the kneeler. Also, thank you to Ed Grim for creating a bookshelf that he will rotate different books through every so often. I would like to also thank those who have generously contributed to this Adoration Chapel.
Next weekend is Commitment Sunday for the 2023 Annual Catholic Appeal. Please bring your ACA envelopes to mass next week as we want to try to reach our ACA goals as soon as possible. Thank you!
